Positive comment for your information on residential schools

Dear Senator Lynn Beyak: I wanted to commend you for offering an alternative view on Residential Schools. It is not a topic that has become widely known to the Canadian public until perhaps the last 10-15 years.

Children being removed from their Parents is a sad thing and into an unknown culture is also very difficult. Indigenous communities believe in community parenting where the whole community brings their young up. Clearly the cultural divide was too large in many cases for Canada as a whole to be considered part of "their community".

Without a doubt in some cases these schools led to a better life for some, quite possibly from alcohol related abuse at home. Shameful were cases of abuse at Residential schools. Two sides to any story is often a fact.
